Netting

A lovely sunny session on Elmington estate with lots of simple materials - just tarpaulin, netting and rope. The photos below show lots of the play that happened throughout the session.

Almost a Water Slide

A water slide (piece of shiny fabric covered in water) is the focus of today's blog post. I'm not sure if it worked as the kids intended it to, but they certainly had a lot of fun setting it up, pouring the water and then attempting to skid along it.

Play Pieces: June 2015

We love it when the weather gets better so that we can be outside all the time! Here's what we got up to while enjoying the warmer climate throughout June:

We jumped over stuff

Set up more tyre swings...

...and a hammock!

Squished our faces

Took our slide outside

Played dodgeball with the Sceaux Gardens TRWA kids club

Got trapped in some clothes airers

Made a type of tunnel

Hung out in a giant box

Made a shelter (although the kids preferred the swing!)

We put seeds in a bucket of water...

...and then shoved our face in to get a closer look!

Trees and Tyres

Often when we put out objects and materials at the start of the session, the children might not even give them a thought, preferring to have a rummage inside for things they've found themselves. This time, they engaged with the set up and it certainly looked like a lot of fun!

Starting quite light touch with a bit of balancing and some resting...

It soon became a little more hands-on...

And looked like this at the end:

Thanks to playworker and artist Bekki Perriman for supporting the session and taking the photos.

Play Pieces: May 2015

Here's the latest installment of what we've been up to at the Shop of Possibilities and Play Local:

We balanced.

Got tied up...

...and escaped.

Built stuff.

Chose songs to listen to.

Decorated the floor.

Played a 'gladiators' style game.

Did some DJ'ing.

Got some insightful feedback from the children.

Moved the Shop furniture outside...

...so the kids played inside!

Set up an obstacle course.

Enjoyed our DIY tyre swing.

Cleaned off some rubbish graffiti.

Used the trolley as transport.

Built a tunnel.
And attempted this!
